It’s A New Day
You cannot keep the Spider-Man down, fresh on the back of his new movie “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” hitting cinemas to heat up the summer even more. The team that does not sleep is back to extend his wardrobe and looks on PS5 and PS5 Pro. Insomniac have added the new Fresh Start suit used in his latest movie, alongside his other new entry in the forthcoming Tag Team Fighter, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls suit. Both new suits do not even require a moment of fresh gameplay to enjoy, once the 1.005.000 update is installed, you are free to swing around in some fresh garbs.

More interestingly for us technically inclined wall crawlers, is the other features this update brings. Namely focused on gaming for the Higher End console players and also those on the move, with the PSSR2 updated visual upscaler replacing Insomniac’s own in-house TAAU. But also a low power mode that aligns with prior games that now offer the reduced CPU, GPU clocks and, more impactful, GDDR6 memory speeds, to enable a simple way for the same code to run across a bigger range of hardware that falls BELOW the current base PS5 performance levels. With the rumoured PS6 Handheld still no closer to announcement, I think this highlights that maybe the PS Handheld is more likely to be a cross-over product that straddles the generations and exists mid-way through the PS6 life-span. If this In-line PSSR2 update offers a bigger benefit than the OS override option I will be swinging into look at ASAP.
