Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Performance & Requirements

Do not spare the Horses
One of the most diverse and dense RPG’s released last generation, was Warhorses Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Well they are back with a sequel and as the big previews drop we also know just what power and console you will need to get the most out of this larger, longer and more diverse follow up. Buckle up if you are still playing on an Xbox Series S or lower end PC, you have been warned.
Unsurprisingly the Xbox Series S is locked to 1080p and 30fps, although that does at least run natively with no upscaling technology present. The PS5 and Xbox Series X both rely on FSR3 from AMD in their dual modes of Performance, which targets a 1440P ceiling at 60fps and then the full 4K at 30fps. It is safe to assume that this will be a 1080p and 1440p base resolution respectively and due to the mention of VRR, is likely to be a fixed resolution target like the first game.
PS5 Pro players get the target *best of both, with the same 4K target but this time at 60fps using Sony’s own PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution(PSSR) which has been a mixed affair of results during the first few months of the consoles life span. That said, expectations are high that this means we can enjoy the smoothest and cleanest version on consoles that will compete with the higher range of PC specifications. As the game still uses Cryengine from Crytek, it certainly has the power inside to raise the graphical quality and push PC hard. Although we do not expect a ‘Crysis’ this time around, the baseline and outputs on consoles means that PC players of RTX2080/RX6700 level should expect targets closer to what we see on the Xbox Series X and PS5 with higher end GPU’s and CPU’s likely required to bump on any additional effects or framerates over that 60fps target. We can test the ponies in February once the game releases, in the meantime, check out our review of the last game across PC and consoles only 5 years ago.
